The Foundation
The Altonaer Stiftung für philosophische Grundlagenforschung (ASFPG, Altona Foundation for Philosophical Research) was founded as a legal foundation under German civil law by Dr. Heinz Petersen in Hamburg Altona on May 26, 2005.
The purpose of the foundation is the promotion of science and research.
After its establishment the foundation was managed by Dr. Uwe Petersen as chairperson with Valerie Kerruish and Prof. Dr. Mathias Kaiser as board members. The board especiallysupported interdisciplinary research and theory concerned with Dialectic in Logic, Epistemology, Mathematics, Metaphysics, Applied Ethics and Law.
Since June 2023, as desired by the previous board and the founder’s son, the new board of the ASFPG has consisted of members of the Joachim Jungius-Stiftung der Wissenschaften and of the Akademie der Wissenschaften in Hamburg (AdWHH). As a public corporation the AdWHH is as a nation-wide, permanently installed research institution, whose basic budget is financed by the City of Hamburg. In cooperation with the AdWHH, the particular wish of the foundation is to lastingly stimulate and support early career scientists in the dialogue between the humanities and natural sciences.
